Govt. Mizoram Law College being the only Law College in Mizoram and being
recognized under Section 2(f) and 12(B) of the University Grant’s Commission Act
1956 is entitled to receive financial assistance from the same. As such, the
college applied for financial assistance under the head UGC Coaching Classes for
Entry into Services for SC/ST/OBC (Excluding creamy layer) and Minorities during
the XII Plan period which the UGC obliged and release funds to be utilized for
the same. The college then organized the said Coaching Classes where the
subjects of Law and General Studies for entry into the State Civil and Judicial
Services were offered. Aspiring candidates whose desire is to enter into Civil
and Judicial Services were admitted free of cost. The Coaching Classes functions
with Mrs. Esther L. Chhangte, Assistant Professor as Co-ordinator. The classes
are held on weekdays from 9:30 – 11:30 A.M. Classes are taken by teachers of
Govt. Mizoram Law College as well as distinguished persons who are already in
judicial services as well as imminent lawyers and public prosecutors and also
professor from other colleges. About 50 students enrolled for the classes, it is
also pertinent to mention and upland the work of UGC in their effort to uplift
the less privilege classes.
